The Design Plus Award is given to product designs with an innovative idea, expression or a whole new design concept. This year the jury especially emphasized products with a new spin to traditional everyday products. And that is exactly what Nutcracker is all about; a new interpretation of the traditional and former designs of a nutcracker.

It comes in black and red.

The design catches the eye with its graphic silhouette, and makes it a new and different tool for the user. The design-trio Ding3000 got the idea for the design due to a frustration from the pain caused to the fingers, when using a traditional nutcracker.

Nutcracker is a different tool, that´s remarkable. It adds a touch of fun at the coffee table or at the buffet.

Award Winning Trio
The three designers may very well have cracked the code on how to impress a design award jury, given the fact that this is their fifth award in collaboration with Normann Copenhagen and their 36th in total. In 2011 they won the “Good Design” award for the Rainbow Trivet and the Beater reaped a total of three awards; The “Red Dot” award, the “Good Design” award in 2012 and the “Design Plus” award in 2013. And now the Nutcracker also gets the reward for its innovative design.

The award-winning Rainbow TrivetRainbow Trivet comes in four different color combinations.

The three times award-winning whisk, BeaterBeater comes in six different colors; white, light blue, grey, nude, lavender, pink, mint, and navy blue.

On their collaboration Ding3000 state: “On every project we work together as a pulsating team in which everybody has its own strengths. Together we create a great synergy that makes it possible to find new ideas besides beaten paths.”

Ding3000 elaborates: “We are driven by the romantic idea that a designer is an inventor of products that is able to create a better world. We love to challenge materials, products and people’s behaviour. The way to our designs lays in the search for a new, better, different, unjustly forgotten or humorous idea.”
